Idioms can be very hard to translate. If you don’t know what an idiom is… it’s like a saying “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.” Of course, some sayings make sense at face value, others take some turning to comprehend. The above references are great places to start comparing English and Spanish idioms.
Here is a great online collection of grammar exercises.
Online slang or jargon is another tough area…. jergasdehablahispana.org is a good online lookup (by country) of jerga… argot… slang… modismo… in Spanish.
about.com’s Spanish language forum is a good place to practice your Spanish.
lomastv provides videos with slow play and english/spanish captions. It looks to be a fee involved to access the videos though. Targeted towards those learning Spanish.
Translating Dictionaries – Translation dictionaries from Spanish into a variety of languages.
Another great translating dictionary is at dictionary.reverso.net – I’ve found words here that I could not find translations for elsewhere
