Learning American Sign Language

I remember back in school we learned the alphabet in sign language which was really neat. For a 6th grader it was like having a secret code. For quite a while I thought all there was to sign language was spelling out words with the letters. Of course, that’s not so. There are signs for words to make signing more efficient. In addition to American Sign Language there is also International Sign language. Many people also use ASL to communicate with their babies before speech development.
